Born in Raritan Township, Franks graduated from Delaware Valley Regional High School, his obituary says.

He later attended the American Motorcycle Institute (AMI) in Daytona Beach, FL, where he specialized in Ducati motorcycle repair, his memorial says.

Franks then worked at Michael Andretti Powersports in Phillipsburg and Flemington Yamaha before becoming an automotive tire technician at BJ’s Wholesale in Flemington.

Franks was known for his love of helping people and had served as a member of the Frenchtown Fire Department, his obituary says.

“John was a kind and gentle spirit, a quality noticed by everyone lucky enough to know him,” his obituary says. “He was generous and giving, always wanting to add levity and joy to any situation.”

Franks is survived by his parents, Alfred C. and Margaret Ann (Weaver) Franks; his sister, Tina Andresen and her husband, Erick; his nieces, Keira and Kayleigh; his sister, Jaime Dayton, and her husband, Tim; niece Camille and nephew Bryce, his fiancée, Alexandra DeAngelis, as well as numerous extended family members and close friends.

Franks is predeceased by his brother, Daniel.

A celebration of Franks’ life will take place in the spring.

“John always strove to do the best that he could,” reads his memorial. “He was such a joy to know, and John will be deeply missed.”
